YYC Deals: Calgary to Paris, France – $771 roundtrip after taxes!

I just saw this incredible flight deal posted over at our friends Chris Myden’s site YYC Deals.

It looks like Air Transat just dropped the price of their May fares to Paris, France by a good chunk.

It’s notable because unlike their flights to London or Manchester, they rarely seem to significantly discount their flights to Paris. It also makes them about 40% cheaper than the cheapest flights to Paris on the major airlines.

Here’s how to find them…

1. http://www.airtransat.ca

2. Leaving From: Calgary
Flying To: Paris, France

Departure Date: May 10 or 17
Returning Date: May 18 or 25

YYC Deals: Calgary to Belize, Costa Rica, Honduras – from $362 roundtrip after taxes!

I just saw this incredible flight deal posted over at our friends Chris Myden’s site YYC Deals.

It looks like the very cheap flights to Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, and Belize are back, but this time on Delta. They range from about $360 – $400 roundtrip after taxes!

Delta actually dropped theirs during the tail end of the fare war to Central America near mid-December, but they weren’t around very long (as in, less than 24 hours). And then shortly after that, the fare war was over, with prices going back up on all airlines. But now Delta is back (seemingly by themselves at this point) for another go-around.

The drops seem to be focused on mostly February and March. Here are some example searches to help find them…

Tegucigalpa, Honduras – $362 roundtrip after taxes (bad connections both ways)

YYC Deals: Calgary to Amsterdam – $616 roundtrip after taxes – affecting fares up to May 2012

I just saw this incredible flight deal posted over at our friends Chris Myden’s site YYC Deals.

There’s a huge fare war to Amsterdam (AMS) going on at the moment. You do see the occasional charter flight on Air Transat to Amsterdam that drops down to this level, but it’s extremely rare to see nearly all the major airlines drop a price to Europe like this that affects such a large range of dates.

They look to have dropped the price of most flights that occur between now and mid-May 2012.

Here’s how to find them…

1. Go to http://www.kayak.com

2. Do a 3 day flexible date search for a roundtrip flight from Calgary to Amsterdam that occurs between now and May 15, 2012.

3. The airlines involved in this fare war appear to be Air Canada, United/Continental, Lufthansa, American Airlines, and possibly others. Some of the flights have good routings, some don’t.

What you want to do after your search on Kayak is click on the dropdown menu beside ‘Sort’ and choose ‘Duration (short to long)’.

Next, you’ll want to use the price slider on the left hand side and bring it down to $650 or so. Now you’re looking at the fastest flights that are under $650 roundtrip after taxes.

Here’s an example search in May 2012 to get you started:

http://www.kayak.com/flights/#YYC-AMS/2012-05-09-flexible/2012-05-16-flexible

Of course you can also use this as a ‘gateway’ flight to get somewhere else cheaply in Europe. Plenty of low-cost carriers have flights from Amsterdam.

YYC Deals: Another cheap flight from Calgary to Cabo – $221 roundtrip after taxes

I just saw this incredible flight deal posted over at our friends Chris Myden’s site YYC Deals.

You may remember that back around Labour Day there were some ridiculously cheap flights to Los Cabos, Mexico.

Well it looks like AirCanadaVacations has dropped another one, for anyone that can leave last minute.

Try searching for a flight from Calgary to ‘All Mexico’ on AirCanadaVacations.com (different from AirCanada.com)

Use the dates of September 24 to October 1.

YYC Deals: Calgary to Seattle – $267 roundtrip after taxes – Oct to Dec

I just saw this incredible flight deal posted over at our friends Chris Myden’s site YYC Deals.

It looks like Alaska Airlines just dropped the price of their flights to Seattle down to $267 roundtrip after taxes.

Seattle is a nice little getaway city from Calgary, but fares always seem to hover over $400 these days and it’s rare to see them drop lower than that. It’s nice to see a 33% drop off that bottom price.

The date range affected looks to be between now and early December. The date selection looks to be very good, with most days of the week affected by the drop.

Here’s an example search in October…

YYC Deals: Calgary to Scotland or the UK – $568 to $592 roundtrip after taxes

I just saw this incredible flight deal posted over at our friends Chris Myden’s site YYC Deals.

(Yes, Scotland is in the UK too, it’s a poorly worded title, sorry)

Air Transat has been putting the axe to their late September and October prices, notably to…

Glasgow, Scotland
London, England
Manchester, England

October 19-26 from Calgary to Glasgow looks to be the cheapest ($568) but other dates in late September and early October aren’t much more.

Late September/Early October seems to have the cheap ones to London Gatwick ($589) and Manchester ($592).

To find them, you can try a flexible date search on www.AirTransat.ca

You can use these cheap fares to go anywhere in Europe for a good price. For example, I’ve been thinking of going to Turkey, and you can fly between London and Istanbul for around $232 roundtrip after taxes on Air France.

That makes for a total cost of around $800 for the two flights, versus around $1300 for one flight between Calgary and Turkey.

YYC Deals: All Inclusive Package: Mayan Rivieria – 7 nights – $532/person after taxes

Wow! I just saw this incredible flight deal posted over at our friends Chris Myden’s site YYC Deals.

Yes, that’s $532/person after all taxes/fees for flight, hotel, food, drinks, everything.

And it’s not to a dumpy resort, it’s to a property that gets great reviews on TripAdvisor, the Catalonia Yucatan.

Here’s how:

1. http://www.nolitours.com

2. Click on Leaving from ‘Calgary’ and Going to Mexico.

For the date, choose Leaving on September, week of….

12 to 18
19 to 25
23 to 30
26 to 2
30 to 7

For reference, the date that’s furthest away with the cheap price seems to be leaving September 30.

Update: It looks like the October 21 departure is also cheap.

Screenshot:

^^ Price after verifying 2 adults, comes to $1075.36 after all taxes/fees.

To give an idea of how ridiculous that price is, the cheapest flights to Cancun in September are around $424 roundtrip after taxes (Westjet). So you’re essentially paying $15/day per person for an awesome beach resort, unlimited food, and unlimited drinks. Crazy.

But you should also know that September is the statistical peak of hurricane season down south. Here’s a chart from the NOAA showing the odds of a hurricane by month…

For this reason, September is one of the cheapest times of year to find all inclusive packages down south. However, this is still an insane price, even for September.

YYC Deals: Calgary to New York City – $416 roundtrip after taxes – throughout schedule

I just saw this incredible flight deal posted over at our friends Chris Myden’s site YYC Deals.

United/Continental just made a large unadvertised price cut on their flights to New York City’s Laguardia airport (LGA). It seems to have affected flights all the way up to August of 2012.

Anyone thinking of going to New York in the next year may want to have a look today. While I *have* seen the occasional cheaper flight from Calgary to NYC in the past, I’ve never seen a price drop like this that affected such a large date range.

Here’s a search in June 2012 for example:

http://www.kayak.com/flights/#YYC-NYC/2012-06-13-flexible/2012-06-20-flexible

Screenshot:

That’s about 45% cheaper than the next cheapest airline! Try any month between now and August 2012 and you’re likely to see the dropped fares.

There’s even a cheap one over New Years, and that never happens.

http://www.kayak.com/flights/#YYC-NYC/2011-12-28-flexible/2012-01-04-flexible

No, I don’t know how long it will be available. Unadvertised price cuts like this can come and go on a moment’s notice. In my experience, unadvertised cuts on United/Continental don’t usually stick around for more than 24-48 hours.
