Today’s Groupon: for $20, you get $40 worth of pub fare and drinks at Dixon’s Public House.

The culinary savants at Dixon’s Public House craft a menu packed with traditional Irish favourites in addition to dozens of premium liquors and draft beers, all served amid woodwork and nautical-themed decor. Eaters can team up to tear through an appetizer of baby stuffed Yorkshire puddings ($13) or loudly announce their solo dining career with eats such as a slow-cooked, smoked beef-brisket sandwich ($14.50). Kitchen crews pour creamed corn over an Irish cottage boxty ($13)—potato pancakes stuffed with ground lamb—and then fry up fish ‘n’ chips ($13) using Guinness-based batter. Afternoon diners can also peruse a lunch menu with 10 items under $10, including an Alberta Prime rib dip sandwich ($9.99) served on a grilled garlic baguette. Between bites, patrons sip pints of Guinness Stout ($7.85) imported from Ireland or down firebrand whisky ($5.50) to warm up the furnace that powers their digestive system.

Each sporting a different maritime-inspired name, the eatery’s dining spaces greet guests with MLB baseball on flat-screen TVs, stained-wood decor, and decorative ship wheels that control the wait staff’s movements. Visitors can dine on the patio or pull cushy armchairs up to the portside section’s stone fireplace. Dixon’s also occasionally hosts trivia nights.
