Art makers select an image file to import into the program to transform into a 16″x20″ or 18″x18″ canvas that can showcase family portraits, scenic tableaux, or a baby’s first Excel spreadsheet. Mouse cursors move and resize the image into the desired position, and the software can enhance images as well as target red eye. Choose to wrap the photo around the canvases’ 0.75-inch bar, or opt for a solid black edge to outline customized masterpieces. Once happy with the layout, canvas creators electronically send their order to West Canadian Digital Imaging, where a trained technician brings imagined designs into physical reality. Finished canvases are ready 7–10 business days after ordering, and available only by pickup from the store, eliminating the wait for long shipping times and awkward small talk between postmen and family portraits.
