Try starting with Wednesday to Wednesday dates, and then see the tip below about clicking on ‘Flexible Dates’.

The fastest flights I’ve seen have a 5 hour stop in Seattle on the way there, with a 2 hour stop on the way home.

There are also flights that have a full day layover (23 hours) in Seattle – for anyone that might want to visit Seattle as part of their trip.

YYC Deals: Calgary to Hong Kong to Tokyo, Japan and then back to Calgary – all for just $668

Hong Kong and Tokyo

I just saw this incredible flight deal posted over at my friend Chris Myden’s website YYC Deals.

An amazing multi-city flight deal just became available for travel from Calgary to Hong Kong (HKG) to Tokyo, Japan (NRT) and then back to Calgary, all for just $668 roundtrip including taxes.

Yes, that’s right. All 3 flights, for about half the typical price of a normal roundtrip flight to either one of these destinations.

You can spend time in each place, such as one week in Hong Kong, and then one week in Tokyo.

The flights use a combination of United Airlines and ANA.

How to find and book these flights

1. Start with one of the example searches below on FlightHub.com

The example searches are for 1 passenger. When you get to FlightHub, you can click on ‘More Options’ to restart the search, and search for 2 passengers.

The example searches are for 1 week in each place (1 week in Hong Kong, 1 week in Tokyo).

You can try your own search for longer stays, but you should probably focus on Wed flights for the best results.

When you get to FlightHub you can click on ‘More Options’ to try different dates.

Example searches:

Dates in 2016

There seem to be a handful of 2016 dates available. The March one is the latest in 2016 that I’ve seen it available for. The March one is also interesting because that’s a pretty good month to visit both Hong Kong and Tokyo.

2. Complete your booking on FlightHub.

Screenshot from FlightHub.com

Calgary to just Tokyo, $686 roundtrip including taxes.

There are also some regular roundtrip flights available from Calgary to Tokyo, Japan for $686 roundtrip including taxes, which is a pretty amazing price on it’s own.

Some example searches to start with:

When you get to FlightHub, click on ‘More Options’ to modify the dates.

Try dates in September, October, November 2015 or January, February, March, April 2016.

Focus on Tuesday to Tuesday flights for the best chance of success.

The trip can be one week, two weeks, three weeks, etc.

YYC Deals: Calgary to Shanghai, China – $535 Roundtrip Including Taxes | Lowest Price Ever

YYC Deals Calgary to Shanghai, China - $535 Roundtrip Including Taxes Lowest Price Ever

I just saw this incredible flight deal posted over at my friend Chris Myden’s website YYC Deals.

Well folks, Delta is at it again. They’ve been dishing out some pretty nice price drops on flights to Asia this year for Canadians, on various routes through Seattle.

This latest price drop completely obliterates the previous Calgary to Shanghai, China (PVG) price record by over $200 !

It’s not every day that a flight to China will cost you about the same as a flight to Toronto. I know some would say that says something about the high cost of flying within Canada (which is true), but in fairness to WestJet and Air Canada, these Delta prices would be considered absurd even from the largest of U.S. airports.

In fact, at this moment it’s about 35% cheaper to fly to China from Calgary (through Seattle) than if you were to start the same journey in Seattle. Gotta love the logic of airfare pricing models!

Ok, back to the show. The cheap prices look to be available from October 2014 all the way up to April 2015.

Here’s how to find and book these fares…

1. Go to the following Google Flights link…

https://www.google.ca/flights/#search;f=YYC;t=SHA,PVG;d=2014-10-20;r=2014-10-30;sel=YYCSEA0AS2115-SEAPVG0DL589,PVGSEA0DL588-SEAYYC0AS2114;mc=p

The prices are in $CAD

2. Look under the ‘More’ menu option and you’ll see a slider that lets you set the Duration of the flight you’re willing to accept.

Slide this slider over to the left, down to ‘Under 20h’. There will be less flight options available, but they’ll be the fastest flights, which look to be the ones with around 3-4 hour layovers in Seattle each way.

3. When you see a price and date combination you like, click on the blue bar.

Now you can pick your exact flights. Scroll down and you should see the Book with Delta button.

When you click this button, you’ll be redirected to the booking page on Delta’s websiteto complete your booking.

If the price changes when you get to Delta’s site, the cheap price has sold out on this date combination, or the deal is in it’s death throes.

This is not an advertised sale, so it’s impossible to say how long it will be around. Typically, I find that Delta’s unadvertised price drops go back up within 24 hours.

These flights won’t last long so I suggest you take advantage of the seat sale before it’s too late.

YYC Deals: Calgary to Las Vegas | $259 roundtrip including taxes, direct flights

Calgary to Las Vegas

I just saw this incredible flight deal posted over at my friend Chris Myden’s website YYC Deals.

Also, don’t forget to check out my Vegas blog “JustVegasDeals.com” for all the best and hottest deals in Las Vegas.

Soon after WestJet released a promo code for ‘30% off’ flights from Calgary to Las Vegas, Air Canada went ahead and matched it (which is always the case, because our nation’s two airlines love to mirror each other).

It may have caught Air Canada a bit by surprise, and perhaps they didn’t have time to change their prices, which were already fairly low on the Calgary – Las Vegas route.

The end result is that after applying Air Canada’s promo code, the cheapest flights are showing up as $259 roundtrip including all taxes. This is as cheap as I’ve seen it in a while.

Of course, as always, the cheapest flights are the lower demand days of the week for travel to Vegas. But even Thursday-Sunday flights on certain date combinations are coming up at $304 roundtrip including taxes, which is definitely a great price for a non-stop flight to Vegas on higher demand days of the week. It’s fairly common for one to pay $450-$500 for these flights.

Here’s how to find and book these fares:

1. I would start with a search on Google Flights Explorer, with the ‘nonstop’ filter selected, like this…

https://www.google.ca/flights/explore/#explore;f=YYC;t=LAS;s=0;li=3;lx=4;d=2014-06-20

Look for a date combination that works for you. The cheapest flights are showing up as $295 USD on Google Flights Explorer.

You’ll need to focus on dates between July 03 and September 30, as that is the date range valid for the Air Canada & WestJet promo codes.

2. Now go to www.aircanada.com and enter in the same dates you found with Google Flights Explorer.

In the ‘Promotion Code’ box, enter the code 30LAS

Hit Search

You can of course, also check out WestJet’s prices and apply their code at www.WestJet.com. After applying their promo code (see below), roundtrip flights appear to be coming up between $289 (lower demand days of the week) and $330 (higher demand days of the week).

As with all airline promo codes, you’re not really getting 30% off the total price. You’re getting 30% off the base fare, before taxes & fees. Promo codes are really only interesting when the fare is already pretty low compared to their usual average, which is the case here.

Both the WestJet and Air Canada codes are short lived, and expiring today at 2:00 PM Calgary time. As with most airlines, if you cancel within 24 hours, there is no fee (something that makes it handy to jump on a deal yet still gives you time to decide).

Air Canada’s ‘30% off’ Las Vegas Promo Code:

Promo code: 30LAS
Book by: June 20, 2014 (2:00 p.m. MT)
Travel from: July 3 to September 30, 2014
link: http://www.aircanada.com/en/offers/air/discount/discount2.html?icid=fl|achome|las_ny|caen|140619|txt#YYC-US

YYC Deals: Cheap flights from Calgary to Hong Kong | $770 roundtrip including taxes | new record!

Cheap flights from Calgary to Hong Kong

I just saw this incredible flight deal posted over at our friends Chris Myden’s site YYC Deals.

Delta has just set a new record for the cheapest flights between Calgary and Hong Kong that I’ve ever seen. The previous record was set on May 23, 2013 when they dropped to $801.

While Beijing and Shanghai have dropped into the $700s on occasion, this is the first time I’ve seen Hong Kong break the $800 barrier.

For comparison, here are the current cheapest roundtrip flight prices from Calgary to Hong Kong, by airline, in the month of September….

As you can see, Delta is undercutting the next closest competing airline (China Eastern Air) by over 35% ! A ridiculous gap in the competitive world of airfares.

How to find and book these flights to Hong Kong

These cheap flights are currently showing in Delta’s system for the months of September, October, November, and very early December. Incidentally, October and November are often cited as the two best months of the year to visit Hong Kong when the temperatures are at their most comfortable (19C-28C) and plenty of sunshine.

The available date combinations are pretty limited though. Wednesday to Wednesday flights look to be the best bet. They have 1 stop each way, in Seattle.

Here are some example searches on Kayak to get you started. When you get to Kayak, click on the orange ‘Select’ button which will take you to Delta.com where the flight can be booked. When you get to Delta’s site, the verified price will show up as $770 CAD.

September 03-17
September 10-24
October 01-15
October 15-29
November 05-19
November 12-26
November 19 – December 03

It can be worth experimenting with Wednesday to Saturday dates on Kayak as well. Certain Wednesday to Saturday date combos are showing up for slightly more ($796).

This is not an advertised sale, so it’s hard to say how long it will stick around. Typically, with unadvertised price drops on Delta, I find they often disappear very quickly (under 24 hours). But sometimes they do stay around for a few days.

These flights won’t last long so I suggest you take advantage of the seat sale before it’s too late.

YYC Deals: Cheap flights from Calgary to Maui, San Francisco, Chicago, New York

YYC Deals Cheap flights from Calgary to Maui, San Francisco, Chicago, New York

I just saw this incredible flight deal posted over at our friends Chris Myden’s site YYC Deals.

I’m not exactly sure what’s going on today, but WestJet and Air Canada seem to be doing some major spring clearance, with some very unusual airfare price drops from Calgary to Maui, San Francisco, Chicago, and New York.

Here’s a brief rundown of what I’ve seen so far, in order of excitement:

Calgary to Maui, Hawaii (OGG) – $398 roundtrip including taxes on Air Canada

Dates: Looks to be available on certain date combinations up to about the second week of May.

How to find them…

Google Flights Explorer –https://www.google.ca/flights/explore/#explore;f=YYC;t=OGG;li=3;lx=7

Kayak example search – http://www.ca.kayak.com/flights/YYC-OGG/2014-04-07-flexible/2014-04-14-flexible

And it’s not just the price drop that’s exciting here, it looks like certain date combinations are available at this price using non-stop (aka ‘direct’) flights from Calgary to Maui, which is *extremely* unusual to see. When using Google Flights Explorer, try selecting ‘non-stop’ from the ‘Stops’ pulldown menu to see which date combos have the non-stop flights.

Update 1: Due to the popularity of this deal, it seems like it is now difficult to find non-stops between Calgary and Maui in both directions. You can try this search, which is currently showing some cheap ones that are non-stop on the way there, and 1 stop on the way back.

Calgary to Maui, Non-stop on the way there, 1 stop on the way back
http://www.ca.kayak.com/flights/YYC-OGG/2014-04-23-flexible/2014-04-30-flexible

If anyone sees any more cheap ones that are non-stop in both directions, please comment below with the dates you used.

Calgary to New York (LGA) – $335 roundtrip including taxes on Air Canada

Dates: Looks to be available on certain date combinations up to about the second week of May.

How to find them…

Google Flights Explorer –https://www.google.ca/flights/explore/#explore;f=YYC;t=JFK,EWR,LGA;li=3;lx=5;d=2014-03-12

Kayak example search – http://www.ca.kayak.com/flights/YYC-NYC/2014-04-07-flexible/2014-04-14-flexible

Calgary to Chicago (ORD) – $271 roundtrip including taxes on WestJet

Dates: Looks to be available on certain date combinations up to about the second week of May.

How to find them…

Google Flights Explorer –https://www.google.ca/flights/explore/#explore;f=YYC;t=ORD,MDW;li=3;lx=5

Click through from Google Flights Explorer to WestJet.com to book them. So far they seem to be showing higher on Kayak.

The Calgary to Chicago flights are non-stop, and I believe set a new record for the cheapest flights ever seen to the windy city from YYC.

Calgary to San Francisco (SFO) – $271 roundtrip including taxes on WestJet

Dates: Looks to be available on certain date combinations up to about the second week of May.

How to find them…

Google Flights Explorer –https://www.google.ca/flights/explore/#explore;f=YYC;t=SFO;li=3;lx=5

Kayak – http://www.ca.kayak.com/flights/YYC-SFO/2014-04-29-flexible/2014-05-02-flexible

Click through from Google Flights Explorer to WestJet.com to book them. So far they seem to be showing higher on Kayak.

It’s not unusual to see Calgary to San Francisco in the $300s roundtrip, as it’s typically one of the cheapest places you can fly to from YYC. Still, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen it drop this low.

Calgary to Palm Springs, California (PSP) – $271 roundtrip including taxes on WestJet

Dates: Looks to be available on certain date combinations up to about the second week of May.

How to find them…

Google Flights Explorer –https://www.google.ca/flights/explore/#explore;f=YYC;t=PSP;li=3;lx=5

Kayak – http://www.ca.kayak.com/flights/YYC-PSP/2014-04-29-flexible/2014-05-02-flexible

Click through from Google Flights Explorer to WestJet.com to book them. So far they seem to be showing higher on Kayak. Finding availability seems to be a little tougher for this one.

Calgary to Palm Springs typically bottoms out in the mid $300s to $400s roundtrip. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen it drop into the $200s like this. If I have, it was a very long time ago.

Any others?

This is what I’ve seen so far. There may be other destinations that have dropped. If you’ve seen any, please comment below. I will update this post with any new findings.

As far as I know, this is not a part of any advertised sale, even though WestJet has an advertised ‘spring sale’ going on at the moment, it doesn’t appear to include the destinations above. So these fares could disappear at any time.

These flights won’t last long so I suggest you take advantage of the seat sale before it’s too late.
